A chance to stay in an old traditional wooden Japanese building. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Bicycle hire is available at the hostel and most sites are within easy reach by bicycle or on foot. We loved our stay here.

Very friendly host. Good and interesting location. Three traditional japanise baths in the neighbourhood. Interesting house whith history.
This is a traditional japanise house, which unfortunatly also means that the threshold of audibility is very low. Since its a guesthose it can become loud very easily

The owner Sanjo and his wife were charming, very welcoming. tea and coffee were provided in the common area, things were clean, and both wifi and a computer were available. I rented a bike which was a great help in visiting Nara Park. The location also allowed me to discover Naramachi with many old houses and small museums. it was an easy busride to the station.
Every extra thing, towels, etc carried a charge. I haven't stayed in a guesthouse for awhile so this is no doubt a reflection of my experience. The owner recommended the restaurant of a friend ( a bar really) where the portions were extremely small, though tasty, it ended up being more expensive than other places I found on my own later. On a rainy day the 10 am curfew was a bit frustrating.

I am quite satisfied with the hotel. The week that I spent here is really great. The hosts can speak English quite well and are very nice. The house is enjoyable and pleasant. There are super markets and canteens nearby. It is also very convenient to go to the nearby deer park and museum.
